RAGBRAI Iowa 7 Day Bicycle Tour LomoChrome Turquoise 35mm Photos

2025 marked my 7th RAGBRAI a bicycle tour across Iowa. Each year, the route changes, but it consistently begins in the west and concludes at the Mississippi River after 7 days.

Around 20,000 riders travel through small farming towns, and we have a great time. Some days are challenging due to the 4 Hs: headwinds, heat, humidity, hills, and occasionally rain. The challenge makes the fun even more enjoyable.

This year, I brought 2 cameras and 4 rolls of 35 mm film. Some of the film was treated to create some wild color shifts.

These photos are from an Olympus XA. Camera-Wiki says introduced in 1979 was the benchmark of the series containing a true rangefinder focusing mechanism and an aperture priority exposure system within its tiny case

It is really small (almost too small if you have big hands) and made to be portable. The cover slides to close so it stays protected.I think it is a great travel camera.

I mention this because the photos look so weird. That is because of the film.

I used LomoChrome Turquoise 35mm color film. The colors are crazy and people look like Smurfs. I did do some adjusting in editing but not much. I toned down the Smurf look. It was a little much. I like the crazy and unpredictable results. All the colors you see are there from the film nothing got added or changed in editing.
