Lego Smart Play turns your creations into interactive builds
The Lego Group announced Smart Play at CES 2026 today, which is a system designed to inspire children by allowing them to turn all their imaginative ideas into reality by bringing their Lego creations to life.
The new Lego Smart Play platform is powered by three core elements: Smart Tags, Smart Minifigures, and the Lego Smart Brick. The Smart Tag is a 2x2 studless tile with a digital ID embedded in it, while the Smart Minifigure is a standard Lego figure embedded with a chip.
Now, here's the fun bit — the Smart Brick is a standard 2x4 Lego brick powered by a custom-made 4.1mm ASIC chip (smaller than a standard Lego stud) and equipped with sensors, lights, accelerometers, and a speaker to make builds interactive and responsive to play. All of this happens without screens or apps, letting kids enjoy interactive, hands-on play the old-fashioned way.
