The camera I am using for my F.I.L.M. project took this beautiful scene from one of my favorite spots in Las Vegas—a disc golf course, baseball field, and splash pad park. This photo was taken with a Lomography Simple Use 35mm camera, which costs less than $30 (and even includes a roll of film).

If you're interested in trying film photography, I think this is a fantastic way to start. The camera is incredibly simple to use—nothing is adjustable. All you need to do is point, click, wind the film, and repeat. Once you've finished the roll, it's easy to remove the film for development. Reloading it with any 35mm film is also straightforward, though it might feel a bit tricky at first.

These cameras look like disposables but are actually reloadable. Once you've used up the included film, you can simply buy more and start shooting again. Like most cameras of this type, they produce images that are sharp in the center but softer around the edges. But honestly, who pays attention to the corners? :)

I think these cameras are perfect as a "just in case" option if you want that classic film look.

Like all disposables, they perform best at a distance of around 4 to 10 feet. A simple way to measure this is to reach out with your arm extended all the way and touch the subject you want to photograph, then take two steps back. That will put you in the ideal focus range. The photo above was taken from much farther away, but it still turned out pretty well.

My F.I.L.M. Project is happening during the 7 day bicycle tour across Iowa at the end of July. I will hand out 3 of these cameras at random and ask people to take photos and mail them back. I will get the film developed and scanned then share. Should be fun!

Camera Specs:

- 31mm lens

- Fixed aperture: f/9

- Shutter speed: 1/120

- Best with ISO 400 film (or ISO 200 on a sunny day)

- Use the flash in anything less than full sunlight, and experiment with the different flash color filters
