The most important thing you need to know: If you’re pouring candy directly into your popcorn, you need really hot, lightly buttered kernels. I make mine on the stovetop because I’m a pioneer woman, but also because making stovetop popcorn also allows you to throw the candy in while the popcorn is still popping, ensuring maximum meltage and even candy distribution.
